2019 personal work in review
New Games
Hats in the Deep
A fun little roguelike my friend @eq and I made for the Lisp Game Jam. It's a pretty full featured roguelike, though combat is of the 'bumping into things in the cardinal directions' sort. We used the TIC-80 and fennel which is a pretty minimal lispification of lua.
Game Updates
- put a web version of my Hypercard Idle game up at https://selfsame.itch.io/numberup
- fixed https://selfsame.itch.io/alien-arch that had broken due to web changes
- fixed https://selfsamegames.com/LD24/ that had broken due to some php thing
There's also a couple of game projects I have in the works, a VR Snake game and an Untitled __ Game
collaboration that may get announced next year..
Music
Released song22 - Rooftop in a Rainstorm for the tilde.town song compilation, vol. 1
I did Looptober, coming up with 27 short songs during the month. This was a challenge but I'm really glad I made the attempt. Also another shout out to @eq for being my one friend who listened to these <3
Software
- updates to ArcadiaGodot (Clojure in Godot), mainly some error handling and helpers to compile clojure code into an exported build.
- updated arcadia-repl to work with the new nREPL
- updates to unity-wave-function-collapse to keep it working with latest Unity and a few bug fixes.
- got GNU-APL compiling for the web webapl, still need to asyncify an inner loop in the special function editor mode. Eventually want to get this up with a nice APL keyboard and localhost file system but we'll see.
- got through 15 days of this years Advent of Code: aoc19, mainly in Elixir
- xform, a scenegraph library for LOVR
Sculpting
I did a ton of sculpting this year, getting into physical materials which was a big change. I started with oil clays, like plasteline and chavant, did some polymer clay work (especially fond of Super Sculpey Hard), and finally ended up with earthware clays. The hands in mud aspect of it really changed how I feel about my work. I'm hoping to move from portraits to figures this next year.
Miscellanea
A Untitled Goose Game riff went a bit viral
I built my dream desk!
We got a baby cat!
I bought a kiln! (no pictures it should be getting delivered in a few days though)
